Introducing…The Red Shoes!

Bonjour Kittens!

This week, we’re taking a look at the inspiration behind our beautiful new Kitten D’Amour Ballet Shoes, ‘The Red Shoes.’

The  ’Red Shoes’ from Kitten D’Amour are intended for display and decoration purposes only and make the perfect Christmas gift! These beautiful Ballet shoes were named after the classic 1948 film, which just happens to be Oscar winning director Martin Scorsese’s favourite film of all time!

Moira Shearer plays Vicky Page, a talented dancer who lands a starring role with a Parisian Ballet company, in a production based on a tragic fairytale. In an unusual twist, Vicky’s life begins to parallel the fairytale.

Eventually she must choose between the only two things she has ever loved; the man of her dreams, or dance?

Click on the Red Shoes Poster to view the Trailer for the film.

A limited number of the exquisite Red Shoes are now available on-line at www.kittendamour.com, and in each Kitten D’Amour boutique, just in time for Christmas!

‘Till next we meet,

Yours,

Charli

The Puppini Sisters

Bonjour Kittens!

This week’s Kitten D’Amour featured artists are  The Puppini Sisters!

The group consists of Kate Mullins, Stephanie O’Brien and Marcella Puppini. This fantastic swing-punk trio formed in 2004, after the girls discovered their shared passion for Swing music. They describe themselves as part of a burlesque revival, ‘a modern Swing band.’

Their name, ‘The Puppini Sisters,’ pays tribute The Andrew Sisters, one of the greatest Blues and Rythym Swing groups of all time.

This week, we’re featuring two tracks from their 2007 debut album ‘Betcha’ Bottom Dollar,’ which can be purchased online here.

Click on either of the links below to listen to our favourite tracks from the album, a cover of Kate Bush’s ‘Wuthering Heights’ and Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive.’ You can also find a complete track list on our ever expanding Kitten D’Amour playlist.

A Taste of Paris in the ’60s

Bonjour and Bienvenue Kittens!

This week’s Kitten D’Amour featured artist is Henry Mancini, legendary Hollywood composer. Mr Mancini recorded over 90 albums in his lifetime, and was nominated for no less than 72 Grammy Awards and 18 Oscars.

He worked on numerous Hollywood classics, including Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Oddly enough though, it is his work on ‘The Pink Panther’ for which he is perhaps most widely recognised. The soundtracks to the Pink Panther films featured the infamous ‘Inspector Closseau Theme’ and ‘A Shot in the Dark.’ Both tracks have a very distinctive ’60s Parisian vibe.

Mr Mancini is regarded as creating some of the greatest film scores in cinema history. Click on either of the two links below to sample some of Mr Mancini’s work. You can find the complete soundtrack on our website.

Mr Morricone is perhaps most famous for his work on Spaghetti Westerns, including cult classic The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.
